Your neighborhood, today. Free, fast, mobile-first news for the lakes-and-hill neighborhoods of southwest Minneapolis.
Lowry Hill News exists to give the lakes-and-hill neighborhoods of southwest Minneapolis the kind of attentive, everyday local news that big-city outlets can’t cover at the block level. We believe a neighborhood is better off with more good local news in it, not less.
We’re free, always— no paywall, no login to read. We’re mobile-first, because that’s where neighbors actually read. And we hold ourselves to clear, public standards & corrections: accuracy first, speed close behind, and errors fixed openly.
We focus on the seven neighborhoods that share the lakes and the hill on the southwest side of the city:
Each has a landing page where you can follow just that neighborhood — start at Lowry Hill or browse them all from the footer. We also keep an eye on the wider Greater Uptown area where it directly affects our readers.
We publish neighborhood news, a crime blotter you can actually check, an events calendar you can add to, city & civic coverage (Council, Park Board, schools, and the neighborhood associations), a local-business directory, and opinion & letters.

Lowry Hill News is an independent, locally focused publication founded in 2026. We respect the journalists who came before us — including Hill & Lake Press, which has served the lakes community since 1976.
News is free, always. We fund the work through a local-business directory, clearly labeled sponsorship, and an optional reader membership — never by letting anyone buy or kill coverage. We disclose our funding and any conflicts on our Standards page and update it as the masthead grows. Want to support local news? See how to advertise or sponsor.
