How we cover this corner of Minneapolis: accurately, quickly, openly, and for free. Spot an error? Tell us — we correct in public.
Lowry Hill News is a free, mobile-first news site for the lakes-and-hill neighborhoods of southwest Minneapolis:
We cover neighborhood news, a crime blotter you can actually check, an events calendar you can add to, city & civic affairs (Council, Park Board, schools, and the neighborhood associations), a local-business directory, and opinion & letters.
Accuracy comes first, speed close behind. We verify every name, number, date, address, and dollar figure before we publish, and we timestamp developing stories so you know how fresh the information is.
Corrections are public. When we get something wrong, we add a dated correction note to the story itself — we never silently edit a published piece. Our running log of corrections lives at /corrections.
We say where information comes from and prefer named, on-the-record sources; anonymity is used sparingly and with an editor’s sign-off.
Spot an error? Email [email protected] or use our contact form.
Our coverage is never for sale. No advertiser, sponsor, or official can kill a true story or buy a favorable one. Anything sponsored is clearly labeled as sponsored, and we keep a firm wall between editorial and the directory/advertising that helps fund us.
We weigh public interest against potential harm before naming private people, who are not public figures simply for being involved in a story.
This is a standing policy, applied to every blotter entry and crime story:
The goal is a blotter that is factual and proportionate: useful to neighbors, fair to everyone named.
Lowry Hill News is an independent, locally focused publication founded in 2026. We respect the journalists who came before us — including Hill & Lake Press, serving the lakes community since 1976 — and we believe a community is better off with more good local news in it, not less.
News is free, always. We fund the work through a local-business directory, clearly labeled sponsorship, and an optional reader membership. We disclose our funding and any conflicts on this page and update it as the masthead grows.
