A shoplifting was reported on the 1400 block of West Lake Street on April 22, and an automobile theft was reported at West 24th Street and Emerson Avenue South on April 25. Even a light week here reflects the citywide pressure on cars. Minneapolis recorded 2,086 stolen vehicles through May 8, about 400 more than at the same point in 2025 and a reversal of the roughly 37% drop the city had logged over the prior two years, CBS Minnesota reported.
