The two vehicle reports fit a citywide trend. Minneapolis logged 2,086 stolen vehicles through May 8, about 400 more than at the same point in 2025 and a reversal of the roughly 37% drop the city recorded over the prior two years, CBS Minnesota reported. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty has pushed a mix of "prevention, diversion and prosecution," telling CBS that "anyone who is a victim of auto theft is left dealing with a situation they absolutely shouldn't be."
Lowry Hill falls in the Minneapolis Police Department's 5th Precinct, led by Inspector Ryan Kelly, at 3101 Nicollet Ave. S. The precinct's property-crimes line is 612-673-5715, and its SAFE crime-prevention teams take doorbell and dash-cam footage that can connect cases. The standard advice still holds: lock up, take valuables and the registration inside, and park under a light. Counts come from the city's open dataset and may be revised as cases are reviewed.
