A contractor's van was pried open overnight on the 2200 block of West Franklin Avenue, tools gone.

A contractor reported that the sliding door of a work van was pried open overnight on the 2200 block of West Franklin Avenue in Lowry Hill and tools were taken. No arrest has been announced.
Vans loaded with tools are a known target because the contents resell quickly. A pried slider is a common point of entry, and the loss can sideline a small operator for days.
Consistent with our policy, only the block is named and no unconvicted person is identified.
Tradespeople are advised to empty high-value tools overnight, add a slider deadbolt, and record serial numbers. Anyone with footage from the 2200 block of West Franklin Avenue can file through the 5th Precinct or 311.
A recorded serial number is what lets a pawnshop hit turn back into your drill.
