Loose change and a bag were taken from an unlocked car during a vehicle prowl on the 2500 block of Irving Avenue South in East Isles, according to the police report. No window was broken, and no arrest has been announced.
The block sits in a part of East Isles and Lowry Hill that has seen repeated vehicle break-ins this spring. Minneapolis police incident data shows clusters of vehicle-tampering reports on nearby blocks, including the 2700 block of Irving Avenue South on May 13, 20 and 27, and along Girard Avenue South. Many of these prowls involve no broken glass at all, just an unlocked door; thieves often walk a block pulling handles until one opens.
Locking the car and clearing visible items defeats most of these opportunistic prowls. Anyone with footage or information from the 2500 block of Irving Avenue South can report it through the Minneapolis Police Department's 5th Precinct or by calling 311. Lowry Hill News gives the block only and names no unconvicted person.
