Monumental “Beyond Walls” project by world-renowned artist Saype begins at Boom Island Park
Artist Saype began painting a 12,500-square-foot land art mural at Boom Island Park on June 1.
The 22nd installment of the project features intertwined hands painted on the riverfront lawn at Boom Island Park, 724 Sibley St. NE
This marks the first United States installation of the initiative, which launched at the Eiffel Tower in 2019 and has since traveled to Geneva, Berlin, Istanbul, Venice, Cape Town, Tokyo, and Cairo
Residents can view the work and interact with the artist during public events on June 5 and 6 from 3 to 5 p.m., including an opportunity to join a giant group photo
While temporary fencing protects the 250-by-50-foot area during creation, the finished fresco will be open for walking and is expected to last between three weeks and three months
